The Swedish recruitment platform Alva Labs has been certified under ISO/IEC 42001. ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international standard for the development, management, and use of safe and responsible AI. The standard governs, among other things, how companies use, develop, and deliver AI services. Alva Labs, which has built a large part of its business on AI, is among the first companies in the world to be certified.
At the end of the summer of 2024, a European AI law came into force, the first of its kind in the world. From August 2026, AI systems used in recruitment will be required to meet strict demands regarding risk management, data quality, documentation, transparency, and human oversight. For Alva Labs, the need for responsible and secure AI is nothing new.
We’re steadily moving toward profitability and have seen strong growth over the past year. For us, it’s a given that AI is our main engine. At the same time, we must ensure that this happens in a responsible and sustainable way.
Because we’ve worked proactively on the safety of our AI, we’ve actually already met many of the coming requirements — more than a year before the deadline. We see that as proof that we’re at the very forefront globally.– Malcolm Burenstam Linder, CEO of Alva Labs.
Since 2017, Alva Labs has developed psychometric tests with AI as a framework, to create more reliable and fair assessments in recruitment processes. Alva Labs’ models are built from the ground up and use Bayesian inference, IRT, and machine learning as tools to best match the right candidate with the right role.
We strongly believe in the AI revolution but also that we must move forward in a thoughtful and sustainable way. That places great demands on us as a company, demands that we are confident we can meet.
Our customers can trust that our AI solutions are transparent, robust, and fair — just as they always have been, but now with the additional bonus of being certified according to ISO/IEC 42001.– Malcolm Burenstam Linder, CEO of Alva Labs.
ISO/IEC 42001 requires clear processes for risk management, transparency, documentation, and continuous improvement. For Alva Labs, the certification means both that the company meets high standards for safe and responsible AI, and that it will continue to be regularly reviewed by an independent party to ensure ongoing compliance.
